Armstrong Hacks CNYC Webpage

Submitted by PM on Mon, 11/27/2006 - 4:53pm.

Noting no mention of his name on the CNYC website....it is
alleged that seven time Tour De France Winner Lance Armstrong
tried to add content without permission to the CNYC webpage.
Luckily, the ever present eyes of CNYC webmasters foiled the
attack. No official comment was available from Armstrong. CNYC club President Peter Martin was quoted as saying "Lance's achievements on and off the bike are incredible. We here at CNYC would be proud to have Lance contribute to our webpage. But, in these uncertain times..... proper channels have to be followed and everyone has to obey the rules.

Ullrich To CNYC?

Submitted by PM on Mon, 11/13/2006 - 8:25pm.

Through the rumor mill......rider extraordinaire......without a team...Jan Ullrich...has been linked to CNYC for the 2007 season. Jan has been training two to three hours a day and is motivated for a great year. He would significantly strengthen the club's stage race team. No contract has been signed; but, CNYC has come up with a race entry reimbursement package that almost no one in upstate NY could pass up. It is believed that two of the German's favorite colors are orange and blue. Club President Peter Martin was quoted as saying "CNYC would welcome Jan to the team....as far as I know Jan could start riding for the club as of January 1 as long as he gets his USCF License.

2007 Check Your Legs Road Race

Submitted by PM on Wed, 11/08/2006 - 8:05pm.

Come and join the fun at the Check Your Legs Road Race on Sunday
April 15th, 2007. One of the earliest chances you will get to
race in Upstate NY. Check your climbing skills on the course's two
1/2 mile climbs. I've been shovelling more dirt onto the top of the
second hill to increase the vertical feet of climbing. If anyone
has some spare cobbles please email me. More detailed information
will be posted in March.

Raising the Bar.....Lowering the Time

Submitted by PM on Mon, 09/04/2006 - 12:29pm.

It's going to take good conditions and some fast riding to best the new Gilbertsville Record Run. Ad Stabel and Peter Martin rode an incredible fast tempo and destroyed the old record. The new best time stands at 1:07:36. Both riders faded the last few miles; but, a cool and calm night allowed the two in form racers to keep a high average speed.
One more attempt later this year? Those in the know predict a 1:06 time for 2007!

Riding round - met a Pro Mountain Biker

Submitted by Bob Thomas on Tue, 08/22/2006 - 10:13pm.

Lucky me - tonight riding home toward Morris from Oneonta by way of the Otsdawa I met Meggan Flaherty who rode this summer and last as a Pro Mountain Biker for Bicycle John's Serious Cycling.

She was out logging some miles on a nice Cannondale road bike when I saw her.

She has a blog about her exploits on the Pro Mountain Bike Circuit - check it out at:

http://meggan-the-bike-racer.blogspot.com/

She made it to the Time Trial on 8/23 and recorded a great time - even though it was only about the third time trial that she had ever attempted. See how all the cyclists fared at that time trial at:

Canal Classic Photo and Results

Submitted by Bob Thomas on Mon, 08/21/2006 - 2:20pm.

Nice Photo of Emory Creel, Rich Karaz, Peter Martin and Tope. Taken August 13th 2006 at the Canal Classic atop of Bartow Hill, overlooking the Mohawk Valley. (Roughly, a 4 mile climb.)

Photo shot by Pam Karaz. Full Size Photo

Rich finished 10th, Emory 12th and Peter 17th out of about 125 riders. We chased okay...but a few guys in our group after the hill didn't know how to paceline. Next year we go over the top first and take the win!

A Record SUMMER

Submitted by PM on Thu, 06/22/2006 - 4:02pm.
Jun 22 2006 - 3:00pm

6-21-06...........The first day of Summer brought amazing weather and incredible riding. 4 CNYCers showed up for the Wednesday night group ride on a mission. Each year we make a couple of attempts at a new "Gilbertsville Ride Record." It's a 25 mile loop with one big climb, some rollers and a decent amount of flats. 2 years ago 8 riders posted the fast time of 1 hour 10 minutes and 11 seconds. Last night Brett Sherwood, Ad Stabel , Peter Martin and Scott Stoddard tore a minute off that time.

The new best time stands at 1 hour 9 minutes and 10 seconds. We had great riding conditions and worked the paceline perfectly.

CNYC Wins at Hollenbeck

Submitted by PM on Fri, 05/26/2006 - 4:29pm.

Sunday May 11th saw record crowds and great racing for the annual Hollenbeck's Spring Classic. CNYC was well represented in the Master's race. With 4 strong riders in the field things were looking good. After the initial speedy run to the first climb a group of roughly 15 crested the first hill. With a good mix of clubs in the break everyone started to work the move. At times it looked like the chasing pack was about to catch the break but strong tempo riding by CNYC's Rich Karaz in the middle section of the course established a lead that was not to be challenged. Hollenbeck's short but steep wall brought the lead group down to 8 riders.

Testing Putting A Picture ON

Submitted by Bob Thomas on Wed, 04/26/2006 - 8:02pm.

OK,

Here's how to do a photo.

This is a story post and it allows you to attach "files". Photos - such as *.jpg files are files.

After you attach a file or files you have to make an HTML reference to each one and also click on the choice -
Full HTML

the syntax - or way to write up the choice is given below
[IMG SRC="/files/river_front_property.jpg"]

but you must substitute < for [ and > for ]
if you go to my post and choose edit you can see it there also.

Once you say or show that you can do it I or you can delete this story - but delete the file first...
or let me do it
